ELIE ZELOUF

Elie Zelouf has dedicated a life to aviation. His career began in 1953 as a maintenance mechanic. In 1967, when he was 33 years old, he joined the fledgling Jet Aviation as Director of Maintenance. He still works there today. His is a legacy of passion and expertise, of a pioneering spirit that helped build a company, and an industry, and of a commitment to customer service that spans decades.

Jet Aviation were true pioneers, bringing business aviation to Europe at a time when it was unknown in the region. Elie’s commitment to going above and beyond ensured that customers felt cared for, that their aircraft was in the best possible hands, and that they had found a partner for the growth of their own aviation capabilities. With Elie’s dedication and tenacity Jet Aviation was also able to grow, in size and capability, to become the company it is today.

In 1970, Elie was appointed Business Jet manager at Jet Aviation, and in 1976, he became general manager of the company’s Basel site. It was under his guidance that they established the VIP completions business, crafting a bespoke interior for a Convair 880 that was displayed at the 1977 Paris Airshow.

Elie was also a crucial part of the company’s growth globally, particularly in the Middle East. In the ‘70s and ‘80s the Middle East was a key market for business aviation — and Jet Aviation was a key partner, enabling customers to establish the infrastructure they needed to operate a successful fleet.

He remained GM of Jet Aviation Basel until 1999, when he decided to step down to take on a new role in customer support. In 2001 he was asked to help establish the newly acquired Jet Aviation maintenance and FBO operation in London Biggin Hill where he successfully integrated the company into the Jet Aviation network. He returned to Basel in 2004 to manage large completion projects, ensuring customer satisfaction that built long relationships and loyal customers, many of whom are still partners today.

Although he officially retired in 2009, Elie remains at the company as a consultant, valued by both his colleagues and his customers for his passion, his commitment, and his legacy.
